At last, Groove For Thought’s version of Chick Corea’s “Spain”, arranged by Kelly Kunz, is available for vocal jazz ensembles. In a special edition for KerryMarsh.com, this chart has been re-notated to fit SSATB vocal jazz ensembles, including fully-notated guitar and bass parts. An emotionally-charged arrangement from start to finish, Kunz begins with a rubato verse for an expressive female soloist accompanied by piano, and then the ensemble charges in with a fiery samba groove. A guy and gal duet changes the texture here and there while the ensemble accompanies, and then Corea’s jagged and exciting rhythmic figures will leave your listeners smiling. Solo space for vocals or instrumentalists, hip and ever-changing background stabs by the choir and a drum solo feature take us into the head out, and then beautiful, big chords bring the chart to a close in such a way that this can be an obvious closer for a daring group looking for a particularly fun challenge!
New demo recording of this edition sung by Julia Dollison and Kerry Marsh (this version is used for Vocal Part Tracks, Minus-One Tracks and the Rhythm Track). See Groove For Thought's original music video below!
