This 2021 commission has generously been released early by Valencia High School because of the relevance of the song's story to the present circumstances for students and educators worldwide. Composed and co-arranged by Christine Tavares-Mocha, this song speaks to the first-hand experience of students in the Spring of 2020 as the emerging pandemic suddenly separated them from their friends and teachers. Of course, the 2020-21 school year has placed many or all of the same restrictions on the same communities, and so this story remains poignant today. The arrangement features brief lyric solos for soprano or alto vocalist, and the piano and bass-only rhythm section writing leaves room for the nuances in the vocals to fully emote and tell this important story.
