"If You're Out There" was a hit single from John Legend's album Evolver and was inspired by Barack Obama's presidential campaign. The song eludes to the Gandhi quote, "Be the change you want to see in the world," and still today, the song's message resonates with hope for positive change in the future, even during very challenging times. This arrangement largely features an alto or tenor soloist, and retains the pop harmony of the original song while adding some jazz-influenced chord colors. The energy builds to a very strong climax before gradually fading to a thoughtful, open-ended finish.
