STARTER SERIES
This swinging arrangement of the 1937 standard is arranged in three different voicings (SATB, SAB and SSAA), all with careful attention to accessibility and voice-leading, while giving developing jazz choirs plenty of material for working on their core jazz rhythmic and harmonic skills. A soprano/alto soloist is featured in spots with lyric solos, and there's also room for improvisation for either a vocalist or instrumentalist. The song's verse is included at the beginning, not in the typical rubato fashion, but it swings along with the rest of the chart. A half-chorus soli section is written, and most choirs will have minimal difficulty learning it, especially through the use of SkyTracks and/or Vocal Part Tracks. This arrangement would work well at as a fun opener or anywhere in the middle of your program.
